How Pokédex Collector works

A quick guide to tracking your Pokémon TCG collection and exploring community stats.

Getting started

Create a free account and head to the Collection page. You will see every Pokémon from Generation 1 through 9 (1–1,025). Click any card to mark it as owned, or open the card-printing picker to record the exact TCG version you have.

Your collection is saved automatically to your account, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.

Collection page

  • Generations — Switch between the nine Pokémon generations with the tab bar at the top of the grid.
  • Filters — Show every Pokémon, only the ones you own, or only the ones you are still missing.
  • Search — Look up a Pokémon by name or National Dex number.
  • Card printings — Tap the three-dot button on any card to open the picker. It searches the Pokémon TCG API for every official printing of that Pokémon. Select the exact card (set, rarity, artwork) that sits in your binder.
  • Card prices — Each printing in the picker shows its current Cardmarket prices (trend, average sell, low, low Ex+, and 1/7/30-day averages). Reverse-holo prices appear when available. Click the Cardmarket link under a card to open its live listing page. Prices come from the Pokémon TCG API and are refreshed daily.
  • Stats bar — See your total caught, the current generation progress, and how many distinct card printings you own.

My Dashboard

The dashboard gives you a personal overview of your collection. At a glance you will see:

  • Overall completion percentage and total cards owned.
  • Per-generation progress bars so you know which generation is closest to completion.
  • Recent additions — the last cards you added to your collection.
  • Rarity breakdown — how many Common, Uncommon, Rare, and other rarities you own.
  • Top sets — the TCG sets that appear most in your collection.
  • Your rank compared with the community.
  • Missing highlights — the generation nearest to completion and a handful of starter Pokémon you might still be missing.

Community Dashboard

Switch to the Community tab to see what everyone is collecting together.

  • Most collected Pokémon — The top 20 Pokémon that the community owns most often.
  • Rarest Pokémon — The 20 Pokémon that are hardest to find across all collections.
  • Most collected card printings — The top 20 specific TCG printings everyone is chasing.
  • Totals & averages — How many collectors are registered, the average completion rate, and average progress per generation.

Profile, nickname & theme

On the Profile page you can set a nickname (shown across the site instead of your email), pick a color theme based on your favorite original starter — Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, or the default Pokéball palette — and toggle collection sharing.

Click the icon in the top-left corner to quick-switch themes; the icon swaps to the matching Pokémon (or pokéball for the default). Your choice syncs across devices.

Sharing is off by default. When you turn it on, collectors who have the View Collections permission can browse your collection in read-only mode. Admins can always view every collection regardless of this setting.

Viewing other collectors

If an admin grants you the View Collections permission, a dropdown appears on the Collection page listing collectors who have opted in to sharing (admins see everyone). Choose a collector to browse their cards in read-only mode. A yellow banner reminds you whose collection you are viewing, and a Back to my collection button returns you to your own data.

When viewing someone else’s collection you cannot edit, import, or remove cards — everything is locked to keep their data safe.

Import & export

On the Collection page you can Export your entire collection as a JSON file for backup, or Import a previously exported file to restore your data. Imports are merged locally before saving to your account.

Admin features

Users with admin privileges can open the Admin page to manage the community:

  • Approve or suspend sign-ups.
  • Grant or remove permissions such as Manage users, Approve sign-ups, and View collections.
  • Toggle admin status for other users.
  • View an audit log of admin actions.

Tips

  • Use the Missing filter to build a quick shopping list for your next trade.
  • Card-printing previews load directly from the official Pokémon TCG API — hover to check the artwork before saving.
  • Community stats are cached for a minute, so they may take a moment to update after you add cards.
